  • What is the minimum order for processing?

    5kg

  • What type of payment methods do you accept?

    Cash, Card, Bank Transfer, Revolut

  • Why do I get less fiber bak than I sent?

During wool processing dirt, grease, and other impurities are removed from the raw wool. The amount of weight loss can vary typically between 30% to 50% of the weight of a fleece depending on the cleanliness of the wool before processing.

  • How long does it take to receive my processed fiber back?

It depends on the size of the order and how many orders are already ahead of it.  Indication of the timeline will be given during booking.

  • What is skirting and why is it important?

Skirting wool is the process of removing undesirable fibers, vegetable matter (VM), and other debris from a fleece after shearing. It's a most important step in preparing the wool for further processing or sale, ensuring a higher quality of the raw fleece.

    What needs to be removed:

Straw, hay, seeds, leaves, wood shavings, bugs and other debris that gets caught in the fleece.

Short fibers and pieces of wool that were cut too short during shearing (second cuts).

Wool from the belly and rear of the sheep, as well as any stained, discolored or spray painted wool.

Clumps of wool that have been contaminated with feces or other animal matter.

Kemp which refers to coarse, weak, short fibers that are undesirable for spinning.

  • What does the picker / opener do?

  • What is carding?

Carding is a process that prepares wool fibers for the next step of the process.

Carding disentangles  and aligns wool fibers, preparing them by straightening them and making them parallel to each other.

During carding, short fibers, vegetable matter, and other impurities are removed, resulting in a cleaner, more uniform fiber. Carding creates a thin, uniform web of fibers that can be future processed into sliver or a rolag, which is then spun into yarn.
